Mantra

The Power of chanting the holy words or hymns is described by many scholars of Hinduism. Excerpts are given below .

Mantra chanting annuls the negative, the selfish, the sinful elements in us, and creates peace, blisswell-being  and success.

When  you chant the Name, it actually  moves through your whole being: purifying you, bestowing grace, and making you sacred. Chanting breaks down the barriers between you and your heart.

Mantras purify us and lift us to a higher state of awareness. Chanting also has a significant effect on our bodies and minds. Like everything in this universe, our body is made up of vibrating energy.

Reciting mantras is only a meditation with chanting of holy words.

Through regular practice of meditation and Pranayama (One of Yoga exercises for breath control) and by leading a chaste life, the mass of energy stored in our body gets transmuted into spiritual energy which gets stored in the brain, enabling us to seek the truth of life and experience the vision.

There are many mantras and hymns in Hinduism which when chanted with proper pronunciation, would produce salubrious effects to the chanter.

The most popular and basic mantra is "AUM" or "OM" which forms the basic and first word for any mantras as to praise or salute the GodThat is why it is called as "Pranav" mantra.

When this mantra is chanted with proper intonation and devotion, you will feel recharging of your body and mind.

Because, when you say this syllable AUM, you will open and close your mouth by breathing in more of outside air(oxygen). Repeat this chanting with a little interval every time so as to allow the absorption of the oxygen into the body systems.
